Joey Medina, a Puerto Rican who was
born and raised in the Bronx, New York, is one of the freshest and
funniest comedians around today. Once a professional boxer, who fought
for the world title and a former police officer, Joey Medina now has his hold
on the comedy world. Latin Heat magazine calls him the “New Freddie
Prinze” while Latin Style magazine says “Joey Medina is the one to
watch.”
Joey Medina is one of the few
comedians that can bridge together urban with mainstream comedy to
make his style a hit throughout the country. From headlining at New
York City's famous Caroline's Comedy Club to performing at San Jose's
20,000 plus capacity Shoreline Amphitheater, Joey Medina commands the stage.
Along with headlining almost every
major comedy club in the country, Joey Medina has performed throughout the
world from Bosnia to Egypt for the US. Military.
Joey Medina is a veteran of 13 television
shows, including A&E’s Evening at the Improv to the Roseanne
Show.
In 1996 Joey Medina won the “Masters
Video, Comedian of the Year Award.” And in 1998, released his award
winning comedy album, “Below the Belt.” Then in 2000, Joey Medina
wrote, produced and directed his first feature film entitled “El
Matador.” The film swept the 2002 8th Annual East Los Angeles
Chicano Film Festival, winning Best Film, Best Director and Best
Acting awards.
Joey Medina was also hand picked by fellow
comedian Paul Rodriguez to join his national comedy tour. Joey Medina
has performed to nearly 100,000 people in the year 2000 alone. He can
also be seen starring in the soon to be released Paramount Pictures
movie “The Latin Kings of Comedy,” with Cheech Marin, Paul
Rodriguez and George Lopez.
Joey Medina is also ranked the #6 Latin
Comedian in the country by LatinoComedy.com. Joey Medina is already showing
signs of success behind as well as in front of the camera. He
has finished his second screenplay and has started his third. Joey Medina
has
also developed a sitcom based on his life with which is now in
