BIO
Comedian
Monique stars as Nikki
Parker, a bold, big-hearted single mother who attends college with her daughter Kim
(Countess Vaughn) in the hit comedy series THE PARKERS, airing in its
fourth season on UPN. Having always dreamed of being rich and famous, comedian Monique began performing
comedy in her hometown of Baltimore. Monique took to the stage for the first time on a dare
from her brother, Steve, and the standing ovation she received that night gave her the
encouragement she needed to consider comedy as a profession. Monique's
career skyrocketed
with appearances on "It's Showtime At The Apollo," HBO's "Russell Simmons Def
Comedy Jam," "Apollo Comedy Hour," HBO's "Snaps," "Uptown
Comedy Club," "BET Comic View" and the Montreal Comedy Festival.
While the production schedule of THE PARKERS keeps Monique busy, Monique continues doing
stand-up whenever possible. This past summer Monique toured nationwide with "The Queens
of Comedy." Additionally, she will release a video of her stand up comedy this
Thanksgiving entitled Monique's One Night Stand "For Grown Folk Only." In the
male-dominated profession of stand-up, Monique has established herself as a championship
heavyweight. Soon to be released is a book of Monique's forthright musings on life.
Monique has won over audiences not only with her humor but her dynamic personality
and even her style of dress. In fact, Monique has launched a new
fashion line "Monique's BBLI" based on the custom-made designs of her stage clothes.
